The Sturminster Newton Cheese Festival takes place this year on 10th and 11th September and is one of the town’s biggest annual events. With its humble beginnings in 1999, the Cheese Festival has grown to become the festival we know today. Here at Harts of Sturwe are proud to be sponsoring the Mousetrap theatre. Over the two day festival we have some great cooking demonstrations and fun events for you to enjoy. Leading up to this great event, we will be introducing each of our guest demonstrators that will be appearing on stage at the Mousetrap Theatre.

Tell us a little bit about Something Else Fishy?

Something Else Fishy in Milborne Port includes a takeaway open for 5 days a week serving a wide variety of fish and a restaurant that opens 3 days a week with home cooked specials. Our fish is sourced from Dorset, Devon and Cornwall and our Lobsters come from Weymouth. We have a holding tank for Lobsters so we can serve them all year round. We also deliver fresh fish locally from our Seafood’s of Stalbridge refrigerated van and provide the fish counter inside Dike and Son in Stalbridge.

Can you tell us what you enjoy about the Cheese festival?

I really love the Cheese Festival as it is a real foodie’s paradise and a great couple of days out for the family.

What is your favourite Cheese?

I really like cheese but my real passion is making pizza in our wood fired oven at home. I also make my own pasta for the restaurant.

What would your ideal job be if you weren't doing what you are now?

I trained and worked in the tropical fish industry for around 15 years before we opened the restaurant. So now I'm actually doing my dream job.

When and Where?

You will be able to see Martyn on stage at the Mousetrap Theatre on Sunday 11th September at 11am. Please come along and we hope you enjoy the Cheese Festival.
