Categories:
The Sturminster Newton Cheese Festival takes place this year on 10th and 11th September and is one of the town’s biggest annual events. With its humble beginnings in 1999, the Cheese Festival has grown to become the festival we know today. Here at Harts of Sturwe are proud to be sponsoring the Mousetrap theatre. Over the two day festival we have some great cooking demonstrations and fun events for you to enjoy. Leading up to this great event, we will be introducing each of our guest demonstrators that will be appearing on stage at the Mousetrap Theatre.
About Al
Al Wingate-Saul is the owner of Holebrook’s Fine Food in Sturminster Newton’s high street. After many years of running the family farm Al and his wife Nikki were looking to expand the farms opportunities. Once the couple had found the right location, they set about finding local and fresh produce for their new store. Holebrook’s opened its door in 2006 and now stocks a vast selection of fine food.
Tell us a little bit about Holebrook’s Fine Food?
Holebrook’s is a family run butchers and delicatessen with a coffee shop. Set in the centre of the market town of Sturminster Newton. We sell a variety of local meats and cheeses, local bread, store cupboard items, including an outstanding selection of herbs and spices. We also sell freshly made sandwiches and rolls, which you can take time to enjoy in our coffee shop with a drink and watch the world go by. In addition we also provide a hog roast for outside catering events, shows and functions which is extremely popular.
Can you tell us what you enjoy about the Cheese festival?
First of all the atmosphere of the Cheese Festival is great. We enjoy the hustle and bustle and seeing many familiar faces. Also discovering new and local foods is really enjoyable. Meeting other producers face to face is also good. It's great finding fresh produce for our store and sampling exciting new foods.
What is your favourite Cheese or other favourite food?
Apart from cheese obviously, our favourite food is a hog roast, which will be situated next to the beer tent by the way!
What would your ideal job be if you weren't doing what you are now?
Running the family farm, furthermore producing good quality meat for Holebrook’s is and always will be all I’ve only ever wanted to do.
When and Where?
You will be able to see Al on stage at the Mousetrap Theatre on Saturday 10th September at 3pm. Please come along and we hope you enjoy the Cheese Festival.
